Meet the Team

Emily Reeve

Director

Emily is a dedicated filmmaker who loves exploring and giving voice to under-represented perspectives, particularly those of children. Having worked with young actors previously, Emily loves collaborating with their creative, energetic minds. Although she is a passionate director, Emily is hoping to pursue a pathway in editing post-university. After undertaking an exchange semester at a specialist film school in Stuttgart, Germany, Emily has also developed skills in VFX compositing and simulation. She thoroughly enjoys the creative and technical challenges of VFX production, and hopes to continue learning and practicing these skills in the future.

Mitchell Barkman

Producer & Editor

Mitchell runs a boutique video production agency based in north-west Victoria, Australia. Over the last 6 years, he has had experience across a variety of industries, including schools, large organisations, weddings, government organisations as well as agricultural and health sectors. Mitchell enjoys collaborating with other filmmakers on larger creative projects and Suitcase has been no exception. In the future, he hopes to continue producing great content for his clients, whilst continuing to pursue creative projects in the film and television sector.

Jack Green

Writer & Sound Designer

Jack is an actor and musician with a passion for script and sound. Throughout his budding career he has enjoyed the creation of his own pantomime theatre company String Dog Productions and a range of work as a multi-instrumental musician and singer. Jack played as a band/ensemble member of Melbourne Theatre Company’s As You Like It in November 2021. Despite his acting ambitions, Jack found just as much love for writing, composing and sound designing Suitcase under Emily Reeve’s brilliant direction.

Ashleigh Hammond

Director of Photography

Ashleigh is a young Melburnian cinematographer who has wanted to pursue a career in cinematography from a very young age. She thoroughly enjoys being challenged in her filmmaking, and is always endeavouring to learn new skills, pick up new equipment and come up with the best shot she could make. Ashleigh has shot a number of music videos, documentaries and short films, including Emily Reeve’s Tea Party (2019), a 16mm short that won 3rd place in the 2021 Peninsular Film Festival. Being on set is when she is the most motivated, and about the only time she does not care at all about how dirty her clothes get. Ashleigh enjoyed the challenges and successes of bringing Suitcase to life through the camera.

Vanessa Babic

Production Designer

From a young age, Vanessa has always felt most comfortable expressing herself through stories and visual art. Her passion for filmmaking has been cultivated during her time at Swinburne University of Technology, establishing herself as an up and coming Director. She has found herself drawn to writing, directing and even production design (including projects such as Tea Party and Suitcase). While she is drawn to stories featuring fantasy and or horror elements, Vanessa loves grounding those elements through stories about human emotion and relationships. With a creative mind and natural curiosity, Vanessa is always eager to learn and develop herself personally and professionally.

Claudine Ocampo

Editor

Despite loving to work across all areas of the production process, Claudine is, and always will be, an editor at heart. She is always excited to stitch together strong emotive stories and enjoys discovering new ways to present them to audiences. Now a Triple J Video Producer at the ABC, Claudine continues to apply not only her passion for editing throughout her work, but also the various skills cultivated during her time at Swinburne University.
